Preliminary Investigation -

Dardenne Presbyterian Church Cemetery - 11/7/07

Location: This cemetery is located in the north eastern portion of the August A. Busch Wildlife Area. It is a little more remote than the previously visited cemetery at Busch Wildlife, Francis Howell Cemetery. It seems that both of these cemeteries date back to approximately the same time frame. Some of the oldest graves in this cemetery date back to the 1840's.

The cemetery appears to have been associated with a church at one point in time. There was a commemorative marker near the site that noted the original location of Dardenne Presbyterian Church which was built in 1819.

There have been several reports of activity in this particular cemetery. User submitted stories from the internet seem to indicate activity in the area, but no specific claims have been reported.

Conditions: Temperature was 48 degrees with the relative humidity at 31 percent. The moon is currently in a waning crescent phase, 3 percent of full. Solar X-ray was normal and the geomagnetic field was quiet.

Equipment Used: Canon 10D DSLR, Sony V1, Cellsensor EMF Detector, Olympus VN-4100PC digital audio recorder.

Personal Experiences: None noted.

Results and Analysis: Visible photography did not reveal anything out of the ordinary. Infrared photography yielded one photograph with a strange element to it. EMF was consistently flat, no readings were picked up at all. Audio analysis showed two unusual pieces.

Photo Anomaly:

This photo was taken with the Sony V1 shooting in the infrared capture mode (NightShot). Most visible light had been blocked off from the shot, so most of what you see is from the infrared spectrum. Upon review, it was noticed that there is something in the image that rather looks like a figure, or at least part of a figure. In the above image, the anomaly has been circled in blue.

Here is a more cropped and enlarged version of the anomaly. Whatever it is somewhat resembles the head and torso of a person. The head is pretty clear to make out, and there appears to be some pattern to what could be a shirt on the front of the figure. In my (Steve) perspective, I think it resembles a child in a way. However, we should always entertain the possibility that this is just a clever arrangement of foreground shapes and background leaves that make this appear to be a figure.

Audio Anomaly One:

Note: I (Steve) will write about these from my personal perspective since I was the only one present at the time of the recording.

This first EVP I recorded while I was doing some questioning. I asked for anyone present to tell me their name. This sound was picked up right after I asked the question. The first sound you hear, it is hard to distinguish if it is a click or part of the later voice. After this sound, you can clearly hear something spoken. It sounds as if it is a three syllable word or name that is being stated.

Audio Anomaly Two:

This one is more of a strange sound than a voice. I am just walking around making some observations about some of the head stones that I was seeing, when I found one of a child. I say, "Infant" (which is what the stone read) and that is followed by some sort of a cry or scream which I did not hear at the time. I follow this up by saying "I can't even read the date on this one." It's possible that the sound might be from a bird, but I had been dilligent up to this point of making a note on the audio every time I heard a sound such as a bird, a plane, or even my stomach growling.
