"Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP) is the appearance of intelligible voices on a recording medium that has no known physical explanation. Many of the voices are thought to originate from deceased people." |
This page is a collection of the best EVP evidence that we have collected from various investigations. Additionally, most of these clips have been enhanced in some fashion - either by using a noise removal tool or amplification. Some people like to listen to EVP clips without "front loading" or telling people what they should hear, so our interpretations of each clip are presented after each EVP where you can hover your cursor over the area after "Our Interpretation" to reveal what we think the clip says.
Example One:
While investigation the Oddfellows Cemetery in Granite City, one of our audio recorders captured this very strange clip. We left a recorder sit alone near the edge of the cemetery while all present investigators retreated to a position over 350 feet away. A couple minutes in, the recorder picked up this clip from nowhere of what sounds like a woman's voice saying some unintelligible word, ten seconds of silence, and then what sounds like a rather malicious laugh.
Example Two:
This may be one of the most chilling EVPs we've ever collected. This was recorded during our investigation of the Harney Mansion. This clip was recorded just after one group of investigators heard an audible "shriek" (which we also captured on audio) from the opposite side of the house where this sound was picked up. I don't think there is any doubt that this is the scream of someone in distress. As can be witnessed by the reactions of the people in the background of this clip, no one in the room heard this at the time.
Example Three:
This EVP was collected from the Confederate Cemetery in Alton. The recorder was placed in a stationary location while the two investigators walked away from the scene. You can hear an investigator talking in the background about 20 feet away from the recorder, but it picked up a much closer voice.
Our Interpretation: "Home" |
Example Four:
This was recorded in the Dardenne Presbyterian Cemetery during an initial daytime scouting trip. The investigator was asking for any present spirits to give a name just before this sound was heard on the audio. You first hear a click which may or may not be a part of the EVP. It is hard to identify exactly what this says, but it very well could be a name.
Our Interpretation: Best guess: "K. Walker" |
Example Five:
In this clip, an investigator was just recording his thoughts while walking around the Dardenne Presbyterian Cemetery during a daytime scouting trip. The investigator stopped, noting the headstone of an infant. After the statement of "infant" there is the a strange sound that sounds something like a cry or a scream. This sound was not heard at the time of the recording, as evidenced by the investigator continuing to speak at the end of the clip.
Example Six:
This EVP is from an investigation of a business in Fenton. This was recorded while a group of investigators were standing around the location's basement observing a number of unusual EMF spikes.
Our Interpretation: "Is something wrong... oh." |
Example Seven:
While investigating the ruins at St. Stanislaus, an investigator was pointing out something in the woods to another group of investigators when he heard a voice off to his right side. After the anomalous voice, the investigator picked up his walkie talkie to verify that the voice heard was not from someone calling.
Our Interpretation: "It's Craig." |
Example Eight:
This is one of the very fist EVPs we ever captured. This was recorded while out at Zombie Road. An investigator asks, "Is there more than one of you?" which is followed up by the sound of our dog whining, followed by a voice.
Our Interpretation: "Hello." |
Example Nine:
In a recent investigation of the Lehmann House, we captured this apparent EVP. It seems to be one of the longest collections of words we've ever recorded.
Our Interpretation: "I died from a colon..." This plays into the fact that the original owner of the house passed away from colon cancer. |
Example Ten:
Our second trip to the Lemp Mansion was remarkable in terms of the number of phenomena experienced and amount of evidence collected. This EVP was recorded in the first floor dining area that at one time was William Lemp Jr.'s office and William Lemp Sr's study. This room was where both men committed suicide. While we were deciding which direction to take with our EVP questioning, one investigator suggested that we should ask some questions surrounding the suicides that had taken place in the room. Just after he concludes his thought, this voice was picked up on the recorder.
Our Interpretation: "Is there someone there?" |
