Private Business, Fenton MO - 8/25/2007
Location: Note: For confidentiality reasons, the name and specific location of this investigation will not be revealed.
This was a very old building in Fenton, Missouri. The building and the surrounding areas have been in existence for almost 150 years. Reports of activity have included: hearing footsteps coming from above while no one else was in the building, seeing shadows in the building's windows from the outside, and on one instance, a person in the lower level reported seeing what appeared to be a person's leg coming through the outside wall.
Equipment Used: Canon 10D DSLR with a Canon 580EX II Speedlite, Canon Digital Rebel XT DSLR, Casio EX-Z75 camera, Olympus VN-4100PC digital audio recorder, Cellsensor EMF detector
Personal Experiences: Several team members reported feelings of dizziness and lightheadedness in certain areas of the building. In one instance, a team member reported feeling dizzy which corresponded with a hit on the EMF detector. Several noises were heard with no apparent explanation. At one point in time, two investigators heard a "rustling" sound followed by a louder sound come from one corner of the basement.
The EMF detector picked up significant activity in the basement area. The base reading of the area was in the range of .5 to 1. While one investigator stayed stationary, the EMF detector would pick up a reading as high as a 3 and hold it there for approximately 30 seconds before returning to a normal level. No apparent cause for the fluctuation was found.
Additionally, a cold spot was felt on the staircase leading from the basement to the middle floor. There were no air vents in the vicinity.
Results and Analysis: Photographic analysis revealed one anomaly. Audio analysis did reveal one possible EVP.
Photographic Anomaly One:
Note: Some elements of the photo have been blurred or erased to protect the details of the business's clients. Only specific names have been removed or altered.

This photo shows what appears to be a semi-transparent black shadow hovering just above the chair at the desk on the right side of the photo. This does not appear to be a shadow cast from anything in the scene. The metal baskets on the walls have clear, defined shadows attached to them. Because of the direction and power of the flash, there wouldn't be anything out of the scene that could cause this.

This is an enlarged crop of the area in question. The shadow clearly is inside the cubicle and yet in front of the binders in the back.

For comparison purposes, this is one of the metal baskets that is hanging on the wall above the anomaly. You can clearly see the outline shadow of this on the wall behind it.
Audio Anomaly:
This clip was captured while audio was just running in the basement. You can hear what sounds like a voice in a breathy whisper in this clip. The beeping sound made is from our EMF detector which was registering high readings at the time. Additionally, you can hear other team members talking on the other side of the room, but their voices sound normal, just distant.
The voice sounds like it says "Feel something wrong?" This is followed by a half second pause then what simply sounds like "Oh."
The addition of audio restoration software has allowed us to clean up this clip a little. We've been able to fade some of the EMF detector's beep out and make the anomalous voice sound a little more apparent. Here is the restored version:
In a true testament to the power of audio restoration tools, we've been able to completely isolate the EVP voice from the rest of the background noise. The EMF detector beep has been completely removed so only the voice is heard.
