Leadwood MO, Private Residence - 11/22/2008

Location: A private residence in Leadwood, Missouri. The current owners of this century old house have reported a variety of paranormal activity in this house. People have seen three distinct apparitions: a young boy, an adult male, and an older woman. In addition, they have reported feelings of unease, like someone is present with them, as well as the sounds of footsteps and other strange banging noises.

The town of Leadwood was settled to support the local lead mines in the area and was at one point in time considered the lead capital of the world. It may be worthy to note that since the lead mining has ceased, all of the mines which run under the town have been flooded with water. The means the entire city is nearly on top of an underground lake system.

Conditions: This investigation was conducted between 9:00 PM and 12:30 AM. The inside temperatures were recorded between 69 to 73 degrees. The moon was in a waning crescent phase, 11% of full. Solar x-ray levels were normal and the geomagnetic field was quiet.

Equipment Used: Canon 10D DSLR, Sony V1 with a Sony HVL-IRM Infrared Extender, Extech 480823 EMF Detectors, Olympus VN-4100PC digital audio recorder, Brunton ADC Ridge Barometer, Extech EX410 Digital Multimeter, Craftsman Digital 82345 Multimeters, Mastercool 52224 IR Thermometers, Sony ICD-P620 digital audio recorder, Sony DCR-TRV70 Camcorder, and 13 LED IR and UV flashlights.

The Set-Up: Since the majority of the activity was reported in the kitchen and living room areas, we set up a stationary camcorder pointing through the living room and into the kitchen so as to cover both areas. We moved amongst the bedrooms, living room, kitchen, and basement doing active EVP sessions, taking photographs, and constantly monitoring EMF and thermal levels.

Personal Experiences: There were no significant personal experiences to note. Two investigators both had moments where they thought they saw something out of the corners of their eyes, but nothing concrete.

Meter Readings: EMF levels were abnormally high in the house. Most rooms had a base reading of around 3 mG. The front bedroom in the house had areas around the bed that had readings as high as 6 mG at times. We don't consider this paranormal, as the fields were static, but we were hard pressed to find any logical explanation as to why the readings were so high. The home's owner stated that he had replaced all the original wiring in the house with modern, insulated wiring and all metal piping in the home had been replaced with PVC. It may be possible that these high levels of EMF are fuel for spirits in the home or possibly residents with EMF hypersensitivity could be feeling adverse reactions from the high levels.

Results and Analysis: Still photography, both infrared and visual spectrum, did not reveal anything out of the ordinary. The static IR camera did not record anything unusual. Audio analysis did yield two clips worth further examination.

Audio Anomaly One:

This sound was picked up in the kitchen while on of the investigators was participating in an active EVP session in that room. This sound, which seems to be some sort of vocalization, was in response to the investigator asking for a present spirit's name. It is difficult to attempt to distinguish any particular name from this clip, unfortunately.

Audio Anomaly Two:

This voice was recorded while investigating the residence's basement. Two investigators were observing how several small pinpoints of light were leaking in from around a window. In the clip, just after you hear the one investigator chuckle, there is the sound of a female voice. The two investigators present in the basement were both male. The voice is difficult to make out any words, but one possible interpretation is that it is echoing the investigators observations and stating something to the effect of "...is light".
