This This page is to showcase some of the most interesting and unusual photographs and video we've captured during investigations. For all still photography (other than infrared) we use external flashes on cameras to help minimize the appearance of dust and other airborne material.

Introduction:

What is “paranormal”?  One definition states that the paranormal is something “beyond the range of normal experience”.   That is what we try and present when we show any results from investigations.  None of the photos we have taken we can conclusively state “Yes, this is a ghost.”  Most of the photos we term as “anomalies” we do so because they fit our definition of the paranormal.  If you take two hundred photos over the course of an investigation and only one or two come back with an “orb” or a mist, then we can call that “beyond the range of normal experience”.  As the group’s primary photographer, I have a lot to draw upon to consider “normal experience”.  I graduated from Bradley University with a BS degree in photography and have worked in the camera retail business for almost 5 years since then.  I have used hundreds of different cameras and have seen probably thousands of photographs taken by all walks of people.  I have exposed close to ten thousand images with my camera. Yet, even with this experience, I sometimes am still at a loss for what may cause something in a photo.  Most of the photos on this page can probably have very mundane and very non-paranormal explanations, but those are often not immediately evident.  We present these images, and the rest of our evidence as merely questions without answers and we invite everyone to draw their own conclusions.

Orb Photos:

Most orbs are usually dust and moisture or other airborne particulate matter. The following are some photographs of orbs that we aren't able to find such an easy answer for. Orbs by themselves are not evidence of the paranormal, but when combined with other findings, can be indicative of paranormal activity.

Alton Confederate Cemetery (the red light to the right side is a street light)

A close-up of this orb.

An unusual daytime orb from the Alton Confederate Cemetery.

An enlargement of this orb.

One of the more unique orbs we've captured. This is from the Abandoned Historic Mansion investigation in Eureka.

A close-up view shows is it closer in consistency to a mist than an orb. What may be most unusual is the way the object appears to cast a shadow on the house behind it.

An inside shot from the Abandoned Historic Mansion. This features two orbs racing through a room.

These two orbs are, to date, the only orbs we've ever photographed in an indoor setting.

A great photo that was captured with three orbs at St. Stanislaus. What makes these a little unusual is their blue tint.

This is a closer view of the center orb.

Yet another orb from St. Stanislaus.

Another orb that appears to have some mass to it.

An unusual bright blue orb that was found at Fort Belle Fontaine. This photo was shot with completely natural light - no flash.

A close up view of the orb at the edge of the photo.

This is a controversial anomaly. Our gut instincts tell us this is a completely natural phenomenon, but yet we have a hard time trying to recreate it. This is just one of a series of photos from the Lehmann House to show this.

Here is a cropped version of the anomaly in question. Visit the page we have devoted to analysis of this for further discussion.

Anomalous Mists and Shadows:

This mist was captured on a 74 degree night in the middle of August at St. Stanislaus. No one was smoking at the time.

This mist was from the same trip. It is a little harder to see, but it is up in the top left corner. This was from the same night as the previous photo.

During our investigation of the Harney Mansion, we captured a couple of photographs of an unexplained black shadow that seemed to be hovering above us. This shot is aimed up through the disintegrating floor to the story above where the photographer was standing.

Apparition or Figure Images:

A great capture from the Lemp Mansion that appears to show a face peeking out the window from the inside.

An enlargement of the "face".

A shot of what might be a figure to the left of the tree from the Alton Confederate Cemetery.

Unfortunately, due to the distance involved with this photo, it is nearly impossible to conclusively say what it is.

An image captured with an infrared camera in the Dardenne Presbyterian Cemetery.

An enlargement of what looks a lot like the upper torso of a figure or maybe just an arrangement of branches and leaves...

Video Anomalies:

Example One:

This video clip is from the ruins at St. Stanislaus. It records what appears to be footsteps walking away from the camera while all present personnel are 50 feet away (as evidenced by the flashlights in the distance).

This is an isolated audio clip featuring just the anomalous footsteps.

Example Two:

This is an interesting clip that shows what looks like a large orb materialize in the lower center portion of the screen before quickly drifting away.
